Dynamic Range Compression

This evens out the volume levels – it makes quiet sounds louder and loud sounds quieter. It’s used in music production, podcasts, and broadcasting to create a consistent listening volume.

Data Compression

This reduces the file size. Examples: encoding a WAV file to MP3, or reducing the bitrate of an existing MP3.

  1. Go to the Audio Compressor.
  2. Upload your file – WAV, MP3, M4A, etc.
  3. Click “Start Compressor” – the default settings work well for most files.
  4. Download the compressed file – compare the size with the original.

Note: In future updates, you’ll be able to choose a quality level. For now, the tool uses a moderate compression that retains excellent audio quality.

When Not to Compress

  • Archival copies – always keep a lossless master.
  • Production files – compress only the final deliverable, not the working files.

Removing Metadata for Extra Privacy

After compression, you can strip metadata (EXIF, GPS, author) by enabling the “Clean File Privacy Before Download” toggle. This is especially useful for sensitive recordings.
